Oh boy, money pit alert! I beg of you, convince me not to buy it!

I posted a topic awhile ago asking about what to get for my first vehicle.

After a bit of discussion, I pretty much decided to get a Bronco II.
There small, cheap, good in the woods, ok on the road, basicaly perfect for me.

Well, I was just looking through auctionzip and came across this.
http://www.auctionzip.com/Full-Image/881758/fp119.cgi

It will be auctioned off next month.
All I know about it is what can be seen in the picture, and that it's from 1950.

If I had any sense, I would delete the browsing history, and run away as fast as I can.
But unfortunitly, I have a weakness for Jeeps. (ducts to avoid flying skillet)
I especially have a weakness for flat fender Jeeps, also I like pickup trucks.

I realize a Bronco II would be better for me in almost every way.
There more reliable, probably cheaper, WAY better on the road (Jeep top speed = about 50 mph) easier to get parts for, more comfortable.....

But I'm still looking at the Jeep.:shok: ( Mild insanity is all I can figure)

Please, knock some sense into me!:black_eye:

Not until you convince me not to buy it, you don't!

Lol
Thanks for posting the picture, it didn't wan't to work when I tried.:icon_confused:

I thought about getting it and something else for the DD, but I don't really think I could afford both.

get a DD first, or ull end up with a half restored truck, no money and no DD. and thats not good.

Yeah, I suppose that is a rather unfortunate possiblity.
Probably not all that likely though.

I can't get a licence for another year anyway, so I should have plenty of time to get it running.

I suppose if I still don't have it running I could look out for some crap car for $300 or so, to use for awhile.

The trouble with getting that first is, Jeep Wllys pickups don't turn up for sale very often.

yeah its rare to find, but i assume its easy to sell it.

u should chek it then, maybe it doesnt need that much work.
but this isnt jeep station u know.....:icon_rofl:

If it's cheap enough I say go for it, if it turns into too much of a money pit you could probably easily re-sell it. That was my thought process when I bought my '61 Ranchero, it was 300 bucks and all it needed was a carb (which we already had) so I ended up with a great little car that I drive all the time and will eventually get restored. The 'chero hates to go over 50mph so I have the Ranger for my DD (the Ranger was also 300 bucks but needed considerably more work to get running, lol)

... or maybe you should do the sane thing and totally ignore my post :D

take a loan out against the ranger, buy the jeep, pay off the loan =P

This isn't helping at all!

At this rate I'm going to end up buying the blasted thing!

Isn't anybody going to stand up for the Bronco II?

-Mike, who really wants the jeep, but who also must be a little crazy.

-Ranger Kip,
Actually, I don't have a ranger, this would be my DD. (See? I told you, crazy!)

You could totally DD that! higher gears and a NOS FOR TEH HORSE POWAZ to increase the top speed. Definitely.

Edit: I just noticed you're in south jersey. I'm just over the bridge, if I had a little extra coin I'd go buy the darn thing myself.

NOS?
New old stock?
Nutty old sparrows?
Nicely odd squeze?

That ones a little beyond me.

Nitrous Oxide System - N O S
Cheers / Buy it, if not hold onto it and sell it for 9 x what you paid for it.

Nitrous oxid system?

Hmm, I'll have to do some googling

Basically you push a button, a pressurized gas with more oxygen than the ambient air is forced into your engine, thus allowing more fuel to be added creating more power, and you can live your life one quarter mile at a time.
