Could somebody with 16" OEM wheels possibly take a picture of the spare that came with their truck and post it up?

If nobody else has in the next few days I will (I'm very busy with work and won't see the truck in any sort of daylight hours to take a picture). But I can tell you on my 2006 w/16' rims from the factory came with a 15" steel spare with a 31x10.5 on it.

If the weather holds, I will get one for you later today(Tuesday).

Kind of funny. Mine came with 31x10.5's and a 16" spare, his has 16's and a 31x10.5 spare.:icon_confused:

Likely hit and miss on the spare, both the 255/75R16 and 31x10.5R15 are virtually the same diameter and they may not care and just nab off a pile of whatever they have handy during assembly (in all honesty it's likely just due to what they could purchase cheaper that week).

My personal logic would dictate they should have included the 255/75R16 with all the Rangers whether they shipped with the 16" rims or the 31x10.5R15 due to the fact the 255/75R16 is slightly narrower and would tuck under the truck slightly better and be a pound or two lighter.

Now you have me curious. What is the pattern on the 15" steelie? Black with multiple holes all the way around or something else?

What year truck do you want OP?

My '01 came with 245/75R16 on 16x7" 'teardrop' alloys. The stock spare was a 235/75R15 on a 15x7 steelie that come on XL grade trucks. Yet, my girl's '08 had 235/75R15 tires on 15x7 steelies and it had a 16x7 steelie spare(same as P71 crown Vic's aka Police Cars) and 245/75 or 255/70R16. Both trucks are 4x4's. I'll take my pic tomorrow if my truck fits your criteria.

so is mine

In my current state, if I get down on the ground, I'll never get back up. But my spare is smaller than the 245/75's that are on the 5-spoke 16's on the truck, which is total BS.....

Crap... I plan to pick up some 235/85's and they only come in a 16" dia and I want a plain looking steel wheel... My 15" spare is the multi-spoke design they used on the early Rangers that had the red center caps... I didn't know spare varied so much... I also find it quite weird that Ford would put a 15" spare rim on trucks that came with 16" rims, lol...

While I wasn't able to get a pic, I checked the spare and it is a 16x7, black with small holes all the way around. I am sure it is similar to the Crown Vic Wheel. The bad news for me is it has a 235x70R16 on it. Looks like I'll be getting a new spare soon.

Rock Auto has the rims for about $65 a piece and the center caps are available too.

So, basically it's hit or miss which trucks came with 16" spares?

yes.

OR....just get to searching for 98-02 Crown Victoria steel wheels....they are the same 16" wheels as what come as spares on Rangers equipped with the 16" spare. Junkyard hunt for P71 Vics. All of them had the 16" steelies.
