How many have had to change the gears?

I can do mechanic work to a point but the under dash crap scares me a bit.

Anyone have a link where I can find dash disassembly?
My trip Od quit and since the fuel gauge dont work either. I carry a gas can with me.

Anyway I will fix both as time goes on, right know tear down and shave the heads due to blown head gasket. No water in the oil!! Thats good!

Never pulled seats on late model vehicles. I was reading where Ford used loctite.

So once the Ranger is back on the road, I am going to pull the old 60/40 thats ruff and replace with some buckets from a 93 Cougar that cracked some heads/ Although with gas prices flying I am thinking about a set of heads on the cougar as it get around 30mpg.

I haven't played with the gears themselves other than to swap gauge clusters and spin the odometer readings to match the old cluster.

Depending on the year of the Ranger and if it's auto or manual depends on how complicated pulling the cluster is. Anything 94 and older is a breeze to do, I can swap clusters in no time. IIRC all you need is a T-20 (might be T-15) torx screwdriver and the ability to get your hands behind the cluster to unplug the speedo cable.

The problem with the fuel gauge is usually with the float in the the tank. Or the sender craps out. Or corrosion on the terminals.

Seats are not too bad to pull out. Worst part is if things are rusty under the vehicle because the bolts go all the way through the floor. Had a couple snap off on me. Best thing to do is to wire-wheel them from the bottom where they stick through then soak 'em in penetrating oil.
