odd engine ideas

would it be a good idea to swap in a sr20det from a nissan 240sx in to an 89 ranger or a 7mgte out of a toyota supra. what would be a better way to go. please nobody say just go with a 2.3t swap cause that has been beaten to death i'm looking to do something out if the ordinary. i'm just wanting to do something different always wanting to explore new territory.

build a non turbo 2.3 to have 400hp .. have a friend that has a N/A 2.3 over 300hp but he has about 10k in the motor alone

i build a a stroker, 4.3 vortec, nothing crazy, but with a lil effort you can get a 4.3 to put out 300 hp N/A, with FI, but add, 7psi, and you can get some real numbers, just something to think about

I have a 4.0l Explorer, with 170k and I bought a junkyard block to rebuild from the mains up whenever this one goes... I think when it does go I'm going to build up a 4.3 stroker and turbo it and drop it into my 2000 Ranger... Not sure if anyone has ever done that or not...

is the supra a striat 6? and if it is....last time i looked at one of them...that engine was HUGE.....lots of work to shoe horn that baby in...about a flat head v8 swap or a 300 6 swap with a turbo on that

the supra is a straight 6 gut the 7mgte is the smallest one out of the family of supra engines.i think its a 3 l engine. but i don't know. what are your guys opinions on the sr20det?

Drop in a big block FE. Most V8 swaps are for the 5.0 or 5.8. I have seen a few rangers with a 460, and one was for sale on here with a 429, but none with a 390. There are Plenty of performance parts available for FE’s and lots of old hands who know the tricks to trick out a 360, 390, 406, 410, or even something high performance like a 428. (yes, I know it will be a lot of work, but very different than everyone else).

i actually thought about a flat head swap in my truck....

i liked the idea because it was different and it would have been cool to go to a car show and say i have the flat head ford Ranger.....
