odd engine ideas

a caddillac northstar v8 they drop them into alot of custom sandrails around here THERE FAST i believe you can buy them no as a crate motor

My first car was a '75 Eldorado with a 502... what is the resale on a '75 Caddy 2dr hardtop? Not much, it was in perfect shape and I could only get $400 out of it.

I bet a 502 would motivate a Ranger pretty good...

Dude My vote is RB26dett or SR20det swap either of those would be sick in a 2wd ranger considering how much power they can generate with simple mods. 500 horse turbo 4 on pump gas anyone??

As much as I absolutely hate bastardizing any rig, I think an all aluminum buick 215 V8 swap would be pretty neat. Nice light weight, fairly compact V8 that wouldnt have much if any negative effect on handling. The 90's Land Rover Disco V8's are the same motor with fuel injection.

The 215 while nice isn't as good an engine as the
stroked 3.9/4.0/4.5 Rover version of the engine
used in Land Rover vehicles.

a friend has a pair of Land Rover Discoveries (late 90's)
he wants to sell, ONE has a dead trans, the other has
body corrosion (no not rust, because the phucker is aluminum)

cappin 90 the VG30dett is better than the RB26dett because the VG produces more horse power and torque at lower RPM's than the RB.

Good luck finding a RWD trans for it.

How about a 440 mopar?

That 75 cadilliac wasnt a 502. It woulda been a 500. The 502 is a hi cost GM performance parts crate engine.

The 500 did (in rare instances) come with some sort of EFI. But carbed ones are more plentiful (and not to metion better). There big torquey slow revving mofos. Would be awesome in a ranger.

The 472 was a good runner to, and pre emission 472's would run harder then an emissions 500.

Personally my favorite GM engine is the good ol 454.

later,
Dustin
