Rig a 2.3L HSC engine in and turbo it.
It's a OHV 2.3L, my Tempo has one. It is different than the 2.3L in Rangers and 2.3Ts. It is damn reliable for what it is. That engine was listed as one of the worst engines made, not because it was prone to fail, but the that high swirl combustion didn't actually work. Vulcan bell pattern though.
I'd like to do a performance build of a late 70's I6 200 someday that had EFI retrofitted. But I doubt it would ever happen.
What would be really fun to me is turboing an AWD Tempo w/ a 3.0L. The cars are like gocarts. I really wish mine was AWD, but I suppose that's just more crap to break.
