Seems to me like it's either the slave cylinder or release bearing. One some occasions, I get an awful noise from the transmission. Sounds like a bearing going out, and changes with input shaft speed. I can even feel it in the clutch pedal, and the noise changes when I push in the clutch while it is doing this. Then it goes away on it's own.

Also, I only need to use the top 2-3 inches of clutch pedal travel. I can fully engage/disengage the clutch well before I'm half way through pedal travel.

Does all this sound like the slave cylinder, or release bearing, or something else?

replace the clutch kit, comes with the throw out bearing, pilot bearing, clutch disc and pressure plate. it sounds like a bad throw out bearing, but if your there do it all!

So you think the slave cylinder is ok then, and likely just the clutch components?
