It seems that every time I call dealer for axle parts, he tells me the same thing, parts obsolete. auto parts store, not avalible. hardly any parts at local savage yard. Im getting to the point where I am afraid I cant find parts anymore. Am I the only one with this problem? They had to find my axle stub on a nationwide location system for hard to find parts , because there were none available in my area. Why is this truck so hard to find parts for? wheres the aftermarket support? as popular as this truck is you would think they would be plentiful.:annoyed::icon_confused:

Dude, if you ever need anything like that then just ask the guys on here. They've helped me with quite a few parts including axles and they're a hell of a lot cheaper than a store or a junkyard.

ya thats the best thing to do is ask on here, i have been thinkin of going to the junk yard more often, the last time i went it had about 6 or 7 4x4 explorers some manual some auto, but complete usually missing the hubs or radius arms only not much else

My next time to the junkyard I am going to ravage some ex's. I need fron axle shafts.

ford has stopped buying D35 parts from spicer, so when whats on the shelves is out that'll be it from the dealer. ive heard you can still buy directly from spicer, but youd better have a deep wallet to do so (i want to say about $400 for a complete passanger side shaft).

I need driverside front stub. ford tells me they only offer part number for right side and its $800. drivers sides obsolete. I found one for 85 to 100 dollars. doesnt sound too bad. $100 for shaft, 60 for bearings(both sides) $40 new nuts. $200 total. or I have a ttb44 I could change spindles for price of ball joints , reamer, bearings ,rear wheel adapters. thinking It might be a good time to swap. what do you guys think? are ttb 44 hard to find parts for too?

By the way they said it makes a difference which gear ratio I had , bigger shafts? do explorer shafts work for ranger? If I changed gears to higher ratio say from 327 to 411 would I have to change axles.

It kills me every time that I need a dealer only part for these trucks - it's harder to find what I need on a 15 year old American truck than a 32 year old Japanese motorcycle. Absolutely ridiculous.

Axle shafts?

I'm pretty sure LMC truck has them. $189.00 for the P-side shaft.....

As for the parts......dealers have always considered a vehicle obsolete after 10 years.

You're kidding. Parts are easy to find for my 96' Ranger. My dad's 85' Honda Nighthawk, like playing the lotery.

Where are you trying to find the parts for the Nighthawk? I've never found a Japanese motorcycle that was hard to get parts for. Not sure about the HD's because I've never had a reason to try.

He has already gotten most of them. The real big problem to his search, is trying to find them in mint or like new condition. The previous owner before him, dropped the bike more than once. One of the parts that hard to find was one of the master brake cylinder.

around here it seems easier to buy a rotted to crap ranger or explorer for a couple of hundred, steal what you want then scrap the rest, I have had to source very few brand new parts.

There are a bunch of parts stores online. Bike Bandit is the first one that comes to mind, but there are many that have the factory parts fiche scanned in and you can order virtually anything. There are occasionally parts that have been discontinued, but from my experience that is fairly rare.
