O/D light was flashing

I as driving today up a snowy lane in 4WD with my OD off,(OD is almost always off) After i took it out of 4WD about a 1/4 mile down the road my O/D off light started flashing. I shut the truck off and resarted it and the light never flashed again. Y does it flash???

i think it has something to do with the temp of the tranny when the o/d light flashes it means its overheating

I thought the 4x4s had a tranny oil cooler? Might be CLOGGED!

Oh well, regardless, you need a manual tranny--M5OD/R1--trans fluid always nice and cool in there, no external coolers needed.

there was a problem with the transmission, there should be codes stored.

the OD light will not flash if the trans is overheating.

it will flash if there is a fluid pressure problem or a shift solenoid, torque converter problem.

i'd get it scanned asap

Depends on the scanner.
If You have an 80 Dollar scanner You will get 80 Dollars worth of codes.
If You have a 3000 Dollars Scanner... well. You get the point.
