both.

ya,if it were something interesting.

this is just work.:annoyed:

so i fought with every bolt on the manifold, working to not break any,got it loose, and this falls to the ground.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

recognise it?it's the flared out section from the top of the exhaust pipe.wasn't a gasket leak, after all.

so now i had to get the pipe out to fix it.i was not going to pull the whole y pipe, that's too much messing with rusted bolts.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

out comes the sawzall.ok,it's a makita...who cares.

the flange?any exhaust shop or auto parts store can get that for you.

mine,i deal with more directly.

ready to fix.

Well, I don't have a Makita, but I do have a Dewalt, I bought it at Home Depot :D
[/SARCASM]

You can get those exhaust rings at most auto parts places, I've bought them at Napa before.

ok cool. i think im gonna try to find the right diameter pipe and just weld on over it and not bolt on the flange at all since i dont wanna mess with getting new rings and having to drill out the original studs. f that

my closest auto parts place is over 100km away, and they don't stock anything anyway.that's why i love my welder, and lathe.

and mill...

and all that other crap.if i really need to,i can usually fend for myself.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

speaking of that,fended.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

on the other end,i welded in a bit of smaller pipe to make the connection where i sawzalled it off, instead of just having a butt joint.

and all bolted back up.the gasket wasn't the problem, but a new one went in anyway.

now that's a bit of a stretch...

so i put the inner fender back in,the battery tray, and all that other stuff.this meant finding new bolts to replace all those that i cut out(the bmw lent out a few)but when i fired it up,it sounded good.this was like a crappy job that i don't get paid for,but i guess not having to listen to the exhaust leak will be pay enough.

2300 watts is as loud as you think)

You should add the [1,000 watts RMS] "candy bar" to your profile in addition to the other two:icon_rofl:

Wicked you got the exhaust fixed gwaii!

i was looking at that, but it's only for rbv's according to the rules.the only thing rbv about this thing is the seats.

I like that saying, a lot.

got a bit of truth to it,but sometimes it takes a lot of polishing.:icon_cheers:

Goddamn gwaii, I must say, even though how drunk I am...You get shit done... I wish I had the motive power you do...

Hey Tom, this is going to sound like a really dumb question but how would someone go about adding up the total RMS of their sound system? I'm currently cobbling together a stereo system for the '93 and have a whole pile of components and am wondering what the total RMS would be. Sorry for the rookie thread jack:D

total output of the amps.don't figure in anything before the amps, such as the head unit.if there's two 200w amps driving the mids and a 500 on the sub, that's a 900w system.look at the sheets that come with the amp to see how they are rated....most make rated power at 2 ohms.this is why you want good amps, they pass a lot of power at this low impedance, cheap ones will burn out fast.

edit-there are no dumb questions....but sometimes there are dumb answers.

sometimes you just got to kick yourself in the butt....no one else cares if you get your stuff done,so if you want it,you gotta do it.:icon_thumby:
