could someone explain parallel a little better? if your really generous a diagram would help :) thanks homeboys

so leave the first battery like it is, and then just run the positive and ground wire from the second bettery to the lugs on the first battery?
 
yep pretty much. I also ran an extra ground from the 2nd battery to the frame. heres a pic to clear it up for you:

Running 2 - 12 v batteries in PARALLEL will make only 12 V still, but TWICE the amps.

Running 2 -12 v batteries in SERIES will make 24 v, but with the SAME amps.
