Notched cross pin for 8.8?

Im getting new 4.56s for the 8.8 with a truetrac from detroit. Is there a gear kit that comes with a notched cross pin and is it necessary? Or will a good shop be able to do this with any gear/master install kit?

It's not necessary (notched pins are weaker anyway).
If you grind a tiny bit off the tip of one or two ring gear teeth, a solid pin will fit past it fine (won't affect the gears, the pinion does not make contact at the very tips of the teeth).

Check and see if you actually even need to grind, the Truetrac might have a stepped pin in it already (a Detroit Locker does, anyway).

thanks. I will do that. by the way I just ordered a 8.8 swap kit(ubolts, shock mounts, spring perches) and heavy duty diff cover from these guys ruffstuffspecialties.com Looks like some beefy sh*t.

I didnt even have to grind mine this much(8.8,4.56's) with a full pin.
