Not Another CTOR Build

Let me know how that doubler shaft works, might have to get myself one fabbed up.

took the input from a tcase and machined it down, bored the tcase gear, pressed two pieces together, then drilled holes into both pieces and inserted the pins (not sure what pins they used but it was made at a machine shop so??) And the output is off a fm145 or 6???

Ah I see. I thought it was all custom machined pieces. I'm interested to see how it holds up.

I didn't think you had a doubler, I must've missed that somewhere :dunno:

i didn't have one in my B2, i had it in my Ex Sport

i should have the doubler finished tomorrow

Sweet. What are the diameter and length of those pins? I wanna crunch some numbers and see theoretically how reliable the shaft will be. I'm not saying its a bad design, I'm just learning about this stuff in school and want to apply it to a real world application.

i have no idea.....i gave it to my buddy and week later he brought me it back. I know his buddy that helped him with it is an engineer from Dana.

No calipers on hand? That's cool, I hope it works out for you. You'll love the gear selection you have with the doubler, I know I do :icon_thumby:

preview of the doubler, sticking working the shifters out, but you get the general idea.

i've run the doubler in my explorer sport, but after i busted two shafts the doubler found its way into the corner of my shop for awhile.

I see I see. I was wondering why you had to wait for a shaft if you already had a doubler. I hope this one lasts you a little longer.

should be fine as long as i do not use 2 lo like the last two times

haha yeah. The shaft is able to see the same amount of torque whether you're in 2 low or double low. Being in two low just increases the possibility of the shaft seeing the max toque. The trick is to find a shaft that can handle that stress/strain, so it is no longer the leak link in the system.

The shifters do look good too. I'm anxious to see it installed in the rig.
