Ok i got banned from another forum for rick rolling somebody is that really a good enough reason? :icon_confused:jeez some people have no sense of humor...

Honestly I think it is annoying as shit, and yes I would ban you if it was my forum too.

X2 sounds like you'll learn your lesson about how to act in a decent forum or be booted out again. Not every place on the internet is like facebook or youtube.

Sent from the road while ignoring traffic

It happened to me here on TRS. I just laughed it off and the OP didn't get banned. I didn't click on any of his links for a while though.

Rick rolling is a weird internet humor tradition.

If you are old enough, you will remember listening to Rick Astley singing "Never gonna give you up, never gonna let you down..." on the radio. Trying to be PC, his voice was big and soulful and kind of what you'd expect out of someone big and soulful looking... when the video came out, quite a few people outside of the UK were shocked by the short, red-haired pasty British fellow they finally saw the voice coming out of.

So... the internet meme goes in a similar fashion... set up something else, let it sink in a bit, then roll it to the Astley surprise. The Rickroll.

Astley was a really good singer... and actually hit the top 10 in the UK with his first 8 singles... he got popular again after people started spreading his video around using it as a joke... the Rickroll.

LOL, i love rock rolling people... OP whats the current link? everytime i find one that works shortly after its not working any longer... HAHA!

rofl the point is it is a joke, people post annoying $hit all the time in forums, but its not a reason to ban someone. I agree it might have annoyed someone but cmon take it easy with the insta-ban, or am i wrong? It isn't like i actually broke forum rules or insulted somebody, unless they are against pasty red headed singers lol

another reason this ios my favorite forum :) besides the rules over there are insane, only one post per minute, zero bumping or instaban, in the trading forums only one thread a day plus only 24 posts per day in that one forum....i mean damn lol

I've still got the cd.:shok:

So, let me see if I understand correctly. If I tell someone click ---->here<---- and see ______, and they click there are really see Astely's video, then they just got Rick Rolled?

Me and a couple of friends would say that is "Coy and Vance'n" someone. Fans of The Dukes of Hazzard will understand this.

Seems pretty stupid to get banned for that to me.

It is a stupid idea to ban it, but it is annoying...and some of the links actually lock up your computer so you have to reboot...that is more than just a bit annoying when you happen to have other things open that you are working on...

If someone rickrolled someone who was, say, at work...where they shouldn't be looking at other sites unless their employer is really lenient and they have to reboot during say a live call where their system is providing the support tools they need to do their job...well, that person might get fired...lol

It happened on here quite a bit a few years ago...fortunately we don't see it much...hint...hint...lol

I didn't think of that scenario. Good point. It's probably pretty tough to police it as well.

EDIT: I was thinking to myself "I get suckered into reading threads with misleading titles all the time"....... same shit, different pile. But if it has malicious intent to shut down your Al Gore invented internet..... maybe not, eh?
