Hi everyone,
I've been having a "no crank no fuel situation".
My 2001 Ford Ranger 4.0 automatic was running without any issue. Went to a store then it wouldn't crank anymore. Towed it home and starting to diagnose. Found out the following:
- Swapped the starting relay, no crank. Then I took the starter relay out and jumped it with a wire and the car cranks but won't start.
- I do hear the fuel pump run a few seconds when putting the key to on position (normal). But then I don't hear it anymore.
I've also checked the cables beneath the starting relay. Found out that the positive is receiving signal but the negative wire is not receiving signal (ground). If I remember good it was the blue/orange one and I've read that it comes from the PCM.
What I'm thinking now is that it has a problem with the PATS system. The problem I have is that the "Theft" light will not come on at all... No blinking, nothing... So, I can't find the code (if there is one with the PATS) it's giving.
Can this be a ground issue? Or a fuse that needs to be replaced?
Any help will be much appreciated.
