Currently I have no heat in the truck. No matter where you set the temp it is still cold, A/C works fine. 94 ranger splash 3.0, just had the motor out to reseal it and take care of a few other problems, not really sure if the heat worked before. Entire cooling system was drained. New radiator, fan, waterpump, hoses, heater core still the same but flushed out. Now I know it is going to be something stupid causing the problem. Have already checked for any disconnected vacuum lines and didn't find any, doesn't mean there isn't any. What could cause this problem. Entire motor was out so a lot was disconnected, may have missed something. Have been driving it and so far no other issues. temp stays steady with no erractic movement. Ideas??

Can you hear the door move when you switch from heat to cool, of you can you probably need to burp the cooling system.

With the engine at temp do both heater hoses get hot?

If you have all the parts for the funle (usually like $30 at Napa) it goes on the radiator. The hardest parts are not over filling the funle off the bat and waiting for the thermostat to open

Normally it goes on the radiator. I have found the end of it is just the perfect size to go in a heater hose, and that top-filling through a heater hose until coolant comes out the heater core is a good way to get stubborn, air-bound systems purged.

It can be done engine off, on a cold engine.

I started doing this during the initial filling on the Explorers back when I was doing about one 06-10 Explorer radiator a week. It gets rid of that bubble that had to be purged.

Thanks everybody, looks like it was just an air pocket. Pulled the hose to the heater core and filled it that way. Seems to have heat now, will see how good it is. I did find brown muck in the top of the radiator and in the heater hoses. I believe it to be some kind of sealer. Feels alittle gritty. Antifreeze is still green. What would be the best way to clean the system to get that stuff out?

Yeah, sound like it may be a stop leak. They are hard to get out completely.

I'd drive it for a while and then change the coolant again, maybe back flush the heater core at that point, or sooner if you still don't get good heat.

I have that exact kit. I have found it does not work as well on systems that have the pressure cap on the radiator, it is most efficient on systems with a degas bottle.

For burping rad cap systems I like the Lisle Spill-Free funnel stuffed in a heater hose. Add it in one side until it comes out the other.

Mine workes with no issues on rad cap systems you just pinch off overflow tube
