1997 Stock Ford Ranger EC 4x4 4.0L XLT
What doesn't work:
-No hot air in defrost/floor/regA/C (vacuum water hose valve stays closed while thermostat is set on max heat in all of these settings)
What works:
-Max A/C does activate the heater hose valve and pushes hot air through front dash vents. (heated air on Max A/C setting or cold depending on thermostat setting)
-Air is directed to each set of vents correctly when selected (defrosters/front dash/floor)
Repairs attempted:
- I bought a second used heater control panel exactly the same model as the original. The problem is still present with either control set.
- Checked heater hose valve for vacuum loss. None found.
I think if the heater valve would just get vacuum in the other positions I would get heat and everything would work fine.
