Im not getting fuel pumps to prime. Got 12v at relays (EEC, FP) but no ground on the tan/blue wire going to FP relay. Continuity is good on the wire going to ECM. Been to O' Reilly's and Autozone, both are asking for part numbers off my ECM but its been replaced and I can't find any numbers that match what they gave me. Now what?? I have an 86 with 2.9, 4x4, manual trans. Does anyone know which ECM will work? Here are the part numbers they gave me to look for:
E6TF-LA, LB, or LC
E6TF-CD and E6PF-DA

Went to my local Pull-a-Part and all the trucks i found were already picked of their ECM's, not to mention I was having a vision problem. I couldn't see in the dark. FP relay is new. :icon_confused:

DO remember: EEC controls most things by switching the ground to the relay coil.

Ok. Thanks. I must be on the right track. I did some digging on this issue and I've narrowed it down to which ECM's would work.
E6TF-CD or E6PF-DA. Based on what i found out from Rock Auto dot com and the NAPA website, one of the two should be the ticket. Thought Rock Auto was the cheap alternative.....seems AZ and O' Reilly's has them beat..and O'Reilly's can get it next day.

Picked up the new ECM on Sat, and I noticed that the new one has missing pins....the old ECM had 3 solid rows of pins. Anyone think this will be an issue? :icon_confused:

Well, I went ahead and put in the ECM. I looked to see where there were open pins, if the was a corresponding wire for that pin so nothing got left out. looked good. Still no prime on the FP. I can hear them clicking though. So Im down to only one other thing to tear apart. That would be the FP in the tank. I know the one on the frame is good, I put 12V right to it and it runs. Anyone got any other ideas???

It lives again!!!

So I wasted 100 bones on an ECM when the problem was a broken wire on the high press FP on the rail. ;brownbag; Thats OK though....at least I know the ECM is good for another 24yrs.:icon_cheers: The schematics once again prove their worth.

Not cured yet....

So it runs, but still dies intermittently like its starving for fuel. Pumps prime and starts up again. Ive replaced all the ignition, ground straps are good.....Im getting tired of this....:icon_confused: Ive noticed there are three fuel filters on this thing.....only one of which has been replaced. I suppose I should replace the other 2, but im doubtful its going to solve my problem.
