My ranger won't start. The gas will just cut when I try and start it. It did this before and tightening the gas cap fixed the problem. Now the only way to get it started is to hold the emergency shut on switch below the glove box. Has anyone had this problem? I wonder if there is some issue with my gas valve or if something is faulty? Any help would be great, right now my plan to get home is to tape down the emergency gas switch and hope it stays til I make it 8 miles home.

switch is bad don;t happen that often, but it does happen, thay are cheap enough or you can jam a fuse in the connector for the time being

What is this "emergency shut on switch" you are referring to? I'm curious...
