I have an 86 Bronco 2, It was unable to turn over and the mechanics had told me there was air in the fuel lines. after getting it back it was parked for 4 hours and then would not start up again.

Am I correct that in the on position the Schrader valve should produce 40 PSi of fuel pressure? Currently there is no pressure or fuel at all coming our of the valve in the on position when i depress it.

I have replaced the in tank pump, rail pump, pressure regulator valve, EEC relay, Fuel pump relay, and it still will not turn over.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thank You

Interita switch is a hard part that you missed.

Also, sounds to me like it is time to start chasing wires and see where you are loosing the power.

The fuel pump will run for ONLY ~2 seconds each time the key is turned to start. From 0 psi to 40 psi takes about 4 tries. However that doesn't sound like your problem, just putting it out there for other people. There is a way of jumping the connectors where you would plug in an OBD1 code reader. The connector is located on the passenger side in front and maybe slightly below the heater box on the firewall. I agree with tracking down electrical.

There is a "how to tech" button at the top of every page and the info on how to check the different systems is in there.

Edit; You say the engine won't turn over....that would have to be dealt with before the fuel issue.

How do I validate the inertia switch, is it just seeing if the white button on top sticks?

I'm waiting on an OBD 1 from ebay so I will run the codes as well when I get it.

Thank you

Unplug the connector and jumper a wire between the two ends. The inertia switch is like a wall switch, it interrupts power flow.

You don't need the code reader to jumper the pins to see if the pump is working.

Figured it out, the rail pump was installed backwards. That fixed it right away, thanks for the help everyone. Seems like the problem the whole time was me.

That will do it.

Thanks for letting us know. Everybody can, and does, make mistakes....even me :shok:

Agreed, although it would get pretty damn good fuel economy it would take several months to several years to run the fuel tank out of gas that way HAHA.
