No Crank

My 1999 Mountaineer 5.0L wont Crank. I have replaced the starter with a known good one, checked the relays, checked the ignition switch, and charged the battery. When i turn the key to start everything comes on but the solenoid only clicks. I changed the starter because I had a new one ready to go in, which was a good thing because the old one was the original and in bad shape. What else could it be? There was no warnings, just stopped working.

Do a voltage drop on the starting circuit. Any time I get a solenoid click it ends up being terminal ends.

Check BOTH Positive and Negative Battery cables at BOTH ends of the larger cables

Negative cable should be attached to engine, some even use one of the starter motor bolts, it must pass 60amps for starter but also the 100+ amps for alternator

All of the above. My uncles crown vic was doing the same thing. Had to cut two inches off the positive side cable near the battery terminal because corrosion ate it up.

If your cables and connections are good then remove your serpentine belt and try again.

If it starts turn off immediately and figure out which pulley is seized.

Thanks guys, I'll check the cable (never had one go bad before). Also I'll check the belt, but I don't see any signs of the belt dragging. It'll have to wait until the weather cooperates by me.
