New truck not firing

Im starting to lean towards the idea that I have a bad ground somewhere. When I check voltage going to the ICM, I get 7 volts if I use the battery as a ground. But if I use the ground wire going to the ICM, I only get 1 or 2 volts? Any ideas where the ICM gets it ground from?

Well, finally figured it out. Turned out to be the EEC relay. Overlooked it because it was clicking, so I assumed it was good. Clicking doesn't mean it's good. It was only allowing 1 or 2 volts to the ignition. Hope this will help someone in the future.

good to hear! I'll keep it in mind for future trouble shooting, I end up taking a fair amount of service calls at work for industrial equipment and boats, not to mention my weird old cars always having some issue :)

EEC relay failed again!!! Only lasted 24 hrs. Bought the more expensive BWD but didn't get a motor craft. Could something be killing it?

if you can figure out the wiring of the relay there should be 4 wires total, maybe 5 with one not used. There should be a power that is constant and switched with key on, the output, and the two control wires that control the little electromagnet. For a relay to fail that fast there's something wrong with the circuit. A lot of times what will happen is the contact that plugs on the relay control wires gets loose and overheats then overheats the winding of the magnet causing it to short and not work, it will be hot too. Or there's a short somewhere in the output causing too much load, yet not enough to blow the fuse but enough to overload the relay.

Well, I got the motorcraft relay and it still will not start. Something is not allowing 12 volts to get to the coil. Only showing about 2 volts. Power is coming in and out of the relay just fine. Ran a hot wire straight to the 12volt feed wire on the coil and truck runs perfect! Just don't know what else to do. Frustrating!
