My workshop workhorse flashlight for six or seven years has been a cheap Walmart pistol grip HyperTough. Well, the HyperTough gave up the ghost. It really wasn’t a surprise since I’ve taken it apart and fixed it 5-6 times and glued the parts back together a few times, the surprise was that it lasted this long.
Well, probably like most of you guys, I must have 30 flashlights, big and small, all kinds, but nothing bright and rechargeable like that one. So around the time I got Lincoln 4 1/2 years ago, I bought this Braun at Harbor Freight, on sale, I think it was just under $20

As the old one deteriorated, I was always trying to catch another one on sale, but the couple times I caught it, I couldn’t make it to the store, and when I had a 20 or 30% off coupon, there were more expensive things I needed.
Sooooo, when the HyperTough died, I was going to bite the bullet and buy another Braun at Harbor Freight, but I couldn’t find it online. Then I found out they were on close out. They didn’t have any by me, but I rode over to the Stone Mountain store about 15 miles away, since they had some in stock.
When I got there, the store layout was totally different, so I went up to the register to ask the lady, but there was a guy checking out. They were talking about a membership. My annual memberships pay for themselves in weeks, so I just said to the guy, if you’re considering it, it’s worth every penny. After he checked out, the gal got somebody else to bring me the lights.
Well, the closeout price was $9.95. And there’s a 20% off coupon for members this weekend, but I’m not sure it applies to things on closeout and such. So I was going to get one light, and then the gal said it was so nice of me to recommend the membership, so she gave me the 20% off on two of them. So I got the two for about $15. It pays to smile and be nice to folks, huh?
In the grand scheme of things, it’s kind of a nothing thing, but I feel like I hit the lottery!
