New tools you've bought recently?

Knock it off or you are going to get dis-bared!

Apologies, that the subject is going against your grain. I didn't expect this much kickback.

I just wanted to branch out and expand my interests since nobody is posting Coleman stuff!

Coleman . . . meh. Discussing the TRS Chainsaw Massacre is much more cutting edge.

is this branched out enough?

One other item from the chainsaw auction lot was this really nice post vise. I had one already but the jaws were just a bit bent. Totally usable...but bent. Cleaned this one up & it works great.

This one is definitely NOT new and not new to me either as I have had it for quite a while but I just got around to making it work yesterday. I bought it from a flea market a while back, it sat on a shelf in the shed for a few years. The advance arm was broken off and the chuck, crank handle and table were missing. I was able to track down an advance arm from eBay, modified the quill to take a modern screw on chuck, found a table from another one of these, and today's project was the crank handle. Pretty easy to make that from a piece of 1/4" flat stock. The wood handle I made from a piece of hickory (a chunk of wood that came from a bag in the BBQ aisle, lol.)

These are totally impractical to use these days but it's just cool as hell and I had to make it work. Maybe I will use it for woodworking here and there. But since it's now operational, I just had to see if it would drill a hole and it made the most sense to run it through a piece of mild steel. The quill is sloppy as hell so you for sure need to at least center punch your spot or preferably pilot drill it first... but it made a 3/16" hole and it actually didn't take much effort.

Big question is, how many decades do y'all think it's been since this thing drilled a hole? I am betting a lot of them.

Update on the kobalt hammer & HF chisel set

Setup worked a treat on the ranger frame. Not a particularly hard workout though.. well see how well it does busting rivets next weekend.

I had to buy a clip on magnifier - was drilling on a stuck manifold bolt in the new engine and I realized I can't see up close worth a damn now. Getting old sucks
