this is actually a simple thing to fix...there is a plastic connector that probably broke or disconnected from the wire that leads to it...you will need to remove the door panel to get at this and fix it...and to remove the panel you just need to remove the arm rest and window winder (if manual windows) and the door release...
The only one you might have to buy tools for would be the window winder...they are usually a torx socket (I think it's number 15 but not sure)...and you might want to buy some new upholstery trim clips because when you pop them out they usually crumble if they are the originals...there is a tool you can buy for popping them out clean...but you can also use other things that people on here have made themselves...like a washer cut so there is a U shaped opening and then welded to a handle...
There is a thread on this in the Interior section below...but not covering the lock mechanism...once you get the door panel off you should see a metal wire hanging down...you just need to reconnect it usually, but if the plastic retainer is broken then you will need to go junkyard shopping (or try to find it in a local parts store) for the clip...
