New to me 2011 Ranger FX4, need wheel and tire advice

I suppose I could always use some 285/75-16 tires on the stock rims. Finding the right rims without paying $250+ apiece is getting to be frustrating.

That would result in 15mm LESS clearance on the inside, which would clear all the immovable bits like the steering knuckle and sway bar, with a 3" body lift to provide fender clearance of course.

Ok, took the plunge and got some Cooper Discoverer AT/3 tires

P285/70-17, as I did not want/need the LT version. These particular discoverers are meant for SUV's not trucks, so they are standard load, lighter carcass and should give a smoother ride than the LTs and also perhaps less impact on mileage. Hopefully. (???)

They look HUGE rolled up against the truck.

I jacked the rear diff up 2" and took one rear wheel off, rolled a bare tire in there and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna need the body lift as well.

Also got some 17x8 wheels with 0 offset on the way.

Rear belltech shackles and pre-2008 OEM torsion keys are also on the way.

Gonna basically lift/level the truck to about what the 2007 and earlier trucks were, see how the tires look, and probably wind up with the body lift anyhow I think.

Roughly measuring the new tires against the stockers, they are 2.5" taller.

Though when mounted and inflated, that's gonna change some, so not a "real" number yet.

I know what they are "on paper" though. 32.76" vs 30.04 for the stockers.

So that should effectively drop my gearing from 4:10 to right about 3:73

I got on 11 fx4. Im running oem wheel, with 285/75R16 (33s). To get the tire clearance i need, i put on a set of roughcountry spacers (1.5'') have not had a single issue to this day. I have been on and off-road for 78 000km with them on (bought the truck new, put the spacers on the day break-in was done :P)

I don't know about the 285s, but I'm running 265/75-15s on my 96 with the stock rims and stock ride height. Almost touch the front bumper when turning, but not quite.

Stock tires for the Splash that year were 265/70-15

Ok well I guess I'll do the pre-key on the front and the shackles on the rear, and see how she sits then with the new tires, and evaluate from there. Thanks for the suggestions and experience.
