Purchasing a 2003 Ranger XLT 4x4. Plan on restoring toward stock configuration. A piece of information that the internet will absolutely not yield to me is: how much did the OE rims weigh, 15” and/or 16”?! I would like to lighten the rims vs OE if possible. Frustrating.

I've never seen those numbers published. I will go out on a limb and say the factory Alcoa wheels found on the FX4 offering were probably the lightest of all the factory offerings. I might ask if the tire shop will weigh one when I put fresh rubber on them this week.

When I was looking for after market wheels... I seem to remember the Mickey Thompson Baja Classics were the lightest that I found. I ended up with ProComp wheels... slightly heavier for about half the price on sale.

Welcome to TRS. ..

@oaebcr ,
Every wrecking yard I've ever been to has multiple sets of Ranger, Explorer wheels and they have several scales. I think they would be happy if not even interested to weight them.

If they don't sell, eventually they are sold for their weight in Al.

It’s an ominous sign when so much is available at salvage yards.
