Wouldn't it say XL under the Ranger tag on the fender??

Nope, IIRC, Rangers usually don't have "XL", "XLT," "FX4," etc under the fender emblem. Especially the newer ones, they have a totally different, new, awesome looking emblem, (my truck has 'em ) that doesn't tell you the submodel.
