Thats how 5.7 hemis came from the factory...

That's not just from mixing coolants, I suspect changing the coolant didn't happen too often.

The past 3 mid 2000's chryslers I worked on had absolutely disgusting coolant. I don't think they put very good stuff in from the factory. reminds me of dexcool. I changed the coolant on my 09 ranger for the first time after 9 years and it came out crystal clean.

Is it even possible for it to be cleaned out? It would need to be submerged for sure to do so.

Its that lifetime coolant......................turns to crystals, engine over heats, spins bearings, Lifetime is up, so as advertised :)

The green silicate based coolant will crystallize after quite a few years, maybe 10 years
It will loosen up with water so just flush as best you can
If you're going to have the heads off then stick a screwdriver down coolant passages and break free any gunk while running water in that side of the block

I think thats what happens when you mix Dex with regular antifreeze. And yes we got it some what flushed out. Well water comes out the opposite port. That motor has been sitting for a lil while.

I would think simply soaking the parts in vinegar would disolve the crud without harming anything else. It works good to remove aluminum oxidation and rust.

🤷‍♂️ guy is using this engine in a truck just to sell it I dont think he cares once its gone.

I hate people like that, unless they are honest about it and at least say "it needs a major coolant flush" to the buyer. Last jeep I sold for a guy had a dead #8 cylinder. I knew 99% sure what the issue was (spit out the valve seat). I played sorta dumb but made it clear that cylinder #8 has no compression and i can't tell you exactly how much damage it has because I didn't open it up. Im not gonna give all my research and findings but will explain the problem and put it down on the sales reciept so they can't claim i didnt tell them earlier. I told you it had a problem and I didn't know the extent of the damage so its on you now. I NEVER say Im a mechanic...

Caveat Emptor

"Caveat Emptor is a Latin term that means "let the buyer beware."
Similar to the phrase "sold as is," this term means that the buyer assumes the risk that a product may fail to meet expectations or have defects"

Capitalism is a good system but there are draw backs, when any one can sell anything
Its why warranties exist and Better Business Bureau
And now we have on-line Reviews and seller ratings, lol

I let the buyer beware, but with as much honesty as possible so they can make the decision whether or not to accept that risk. Its called karma...

Yup, "what goes around comes around", another saying

Hey, if its "for sale" then you know for sure at least one person doesn't want it, lol

I’ve never sold a vehicle without being as honest I could be about it... and I let the asking price reflect it’s value.

remember when all we had was the green, ethelene glycol antifreeze? I don’t recall any coolant issues back then, it only got changed if you replaced a water pump or a hose. this crap now is horrible, dexcool is the worst, Im sure ford has its own version. Just another way the automakers are causing a “planned failure” so stuff doesnt last as long and we have to replace a vehicle or go in for service.
