Need to replace my throttle cable; any tips?

My go pedal cable is fraying right at the bracket where it exits the cable casing.

Any handy tips for replacing before I start cursing? Will I need to pull the damned dash to get at it by the firewall?

Nope.

Cable replacement is quite painless actually.

10 minutes taking your time.

At least on the 2.9 and 4.0 anyway, and I can't see Ford making the 3.0 that different.
