Need to change out the fuel pump

now put ur thumb over the end u just increased the end pressure which will create a fine spray on one side

Well you actually created a resistance to flow and the fine stream is more related to your thumb than the pressure. Flow increases with pressure differential up to a point, depending on flow resistance.

As usual these things are not achieved without a system change.

I have a pressure gauge on my truck, its super charged, I do not see any pressure drop, what your seeing is the pumps inability to keep up with demand, therefore pressure drop, and a week pump.

Direct injection is another ballgame as well similar to diesel, not applicable theory to the fuel system on the 3.0

Pump was brand new

Seen several bad pumps right out of the box that would not hold pressure, I have a test rig that we always dead head each pump before install to see that it will maintain pressure and volume test accordingly before installing, I want to know I have a good pump prior to install.

You may have a bad regulator as well, either can show up as a decrease in fuel pressure

I know DI isn't related to the 3.0 the point of the post abt DI is 2 things DI has proven to get better mpgs, and to show that the high pressure does relate to what he is asking if high pressure does give better mpgs

One of the main reasons DI gets better mileage is they are using the increased pressure to get smaller amounts of fuel into the combustion chamber faster on a more frequent cylce. DI really works on a JIT theory, get all you need for that split second event, but nothing extra, and the placement of the injector eliminates many problems with valve shrouding, intake runner puddling etc, so several good benefits there as well.

Your not going to see any measurable increase on a stock truck with stock injectors from a pressure increase, like I said before it will likely lead to a less desirable injector pattern. Injectors have a sweet spot on pressure that they are designed for, out of that range and you get a pattern change on the injector

If you see more than a 2-3 psi drop from sudden acceleration, you need to look at the pump & regulator, something is not right
