need to buy a beater, blazer is killing me in gas

heck ya dude 600 bucks for a running ranger? you wouldnt even need to show me a picture.

I paid like $600 or $700 for my 89 (samething) & drove it for like 7 years. Awesome gas mileage, 4cyl - 5speed. Don't do to much finishing, just maintain it & drive & be happy. Love that truck, BUY IT!!.

IMO

I wanted to do the same thing as you before i sat down and calculated how much i would of saved. I wanted to buy a little civic to save gas and mileage on my truck. Turns out i would of spent more money than i would have gained....

so i should go for it? i can get a 12$ cherry bomb so i kno id be set with a muffler. im not shure on the motor, but ill go try to take a look soon

Doesnt say what engine but Id guess a 2.3. My dad has an 89 2wd 2.3 5 speed, gets 30 mpg freeway and 24ish city, hes put 55K miles on it in 2 years and were sure it had over 200K when he got it. We're pretty hard on that truck and the damn thing wont die!

I've seen that Ranger around for a while. It's been on the market for quite a few months now. I'm guessing it's got some over looked troubles...

good luck tho.

i bought a 94 saturn for 1000 and its already paid for itself in the savings from not dd the truck. Ive had it for 2 years now.

I bought my 90 ranger for $670. It is the same color and about the same shape as that one. An ignition coil, timing belt, and exhaust system later (about $200 in parts) I have a dd that I would trust to drive to alaska and back without even thinking twice. Plus it averages 28 mpg. The funny thing is it has 240,000 miles on it but you'd never know it. There's much truth to the saying "this stupid little truck just wont die!"

i have a 2001 f-350 with the 5.4 mod motor. i put my v8 ranger on the road and drove that daily in the summer time and i saved on average $30 a week in gas. if u get terrible gas mileage a ranger would be ur way to go no matter what size engine it has

well the gas saveings is one, but id have spare body parts, and if it has a new tranny i could get the PaleBlue done and drive it in 2wd while i get a t-case mated to the transmission then spend a night at the shop i work at swping trannys n such

well me and my dad worked it out, i help and pay 2 get this running (old pic ill get a newer one asap)

it will be my DD and i can still go wheeling, ill go everyplace u can think of

Last year I bought a Neon that looked half decent for $1400 to drive between my two offices instead of the truck. I guess I bought it just in time for everything to break and within 6 months I'd spent more on repairs than I paid for the car. Last summer it sucked a valve and at that point wasn't worth fixing or throwing any more money at. It was a wash at best with gas but on the plus side it helped me keep miles off my Sport Trac since I lease it.

It barely made it to the Ford dealer under it's own power, where I got $380 on trade for a nice 2004 Focus wagon with only 33k on it for $10k. So now I've got a payment of $230 a month but I was spending that on repairs on the Neon anyway. I figure it should last me a long time though.

Those are a nice dd, my brother gets mid 40's in his '68 stock style beetle with a '73 Superbeetle 1600. They are not too fun in cold weather though, the heating system (if you want to call it that) rarely works right, and they love to do cookies for no apparant reason while turning on ice due to all the weight in the rear.

yea it has a heater but it doesnt want to run at the moment, i was thinking of getting that stuff u spray on windows to keep water off, i think its called Rain X, any ideas?
