Hey guys long time viewer, first time poster, but i have a problem.

I am schedualed to take a look at a 2004 ford ranger xlt fx4 tomorrow
They are asking 10,500 for it, it has all the features you would expect along with tool box, bed liner, running boards, etc

My concern is the interior, its tan. The black interior looks so much better to me, and im not sure if this is a deal breaker but i just want to be satisfied with such an expensive purchase, So let me know, would i be making a bad choice, or not. Also would it be hard to replace the dash with a black one, i know changing the carpet would be easy.

heres some pics

Is the fx4 worth the price, i am going to be doing some off roading, and trips up to the mountain so 4x4 will be used frequently.

And just exactly what features are included in the fx4, im aware it has the 31 spline read axle, limited slip diff, and what else?

Thanks =]

My 99 Ranger has the tan and black trim and I like it. It is so easy to take care of. My 2010 Nissan Rogue has black interior is a pain to take care of. It needs to be vacummed more often since every tiny bit of lint that is on our clothers shows up more often or when we take the cats out to the vet or to the park their hair is more visable and it is time to get out the vacumm...lol

this is more a personal opinion but for me another plus of the tan interior is that it makes the inside of the truck brighter, and in my opinion feel a little less confined than all black. also hides dirt quite well haha....the tan interior still has quite a bit of black trim if you wanted to darken it up maybe you could throw some black seat covers on or something, just a thought

Another vote for the tan interior. If everything else checks out and you all agree on price you can have the seats dyed if you must HAVE a blsck interior. The truck looks nice, good luck :) :) :)

My vote it for the Tan. My wife's '08 Escape has all black interior. Man does it show every little speck of dust. However, for me it depends on the exterior color to complement the interior color. We had a black exterior and tan interior Explorer back in the day and I loved that color combination.

Buy the truck, take it to the detailer and have him clean the interior thoroughly. Once it's done, ScotchGuard it to prevent stains. Then just vacuum/spot clean when needed.

Like everyone else said: black interiors are a pain in the ass to keep clean. I have two, it's a constant battle, even for someone like me who tries hard not to track stuff in.

I think the price is a bit high for a 7 year old truck.
Where in Oregon are you ?

I prefer black interior over tan, for one big reason.

I am a mechanic, I get in and out of people's cars all day long, and I am unavoidably dirty when I do it. It's usually dirt from their car at that, but boy do people with light interiors throw a fit when there is even the slightest hint that I may have left a thought of a smudge on something. And even using floor mats, seat covers, and steering wheel covers, it still happens.

Kinda like the guy who had a fit because I left 2 finger prints on his head liner that was from dirt I got on my hand from taking his headliner down.

It isn't depending on the miles.

I'd prefer a tan interior, black interior is too high-maintenance, and you can have can have mud splatter all over the interior and it blends in quite well, don't ask how I know.

I have a Volvo C70 as well with the dark outside and tan inside. It looks really good in my opinion.

On a different note upon looking at the pic of the truck. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a carseat in the Ranger extended cab? My daughter will be 3 soon however the use of a carseat/booster will have to be done for some time yet. Thanks.

Hey Ozz, how do you know?

If my memory serves me correctly. I recall seeing in the manual for my 05 that there were provisions for one on the passenger seat. I don't think i would ever put a youngin on one of those jump seats... I don't trust those things. On a side note i believe the FX4 package came with slightly different trim, ie gauge background, two extra skid plates, and different rims. One thing to consider is the tires that are on it. They are H/T's, high way terrains. If you plan on going up the mountain and stuff like that, you should be okay so long as you stick to FSR's and drive accordingly. I myself would look into a good set of all terrains. Best of luck!
