im thinking about putting my lift and tires and stuff i like onto new ranger but then again i love my first ranger but im trying to do whats smart and i need ur help

now im only 17 and dont have alot of money but let me know what you think i should do i need help quick

if i were in your shoes i'd rather choose the new ranger.
but then again i don't know the sentimental value of your first ranger.
but you'd rather moved on and enjoy the ride of a new ranger!

Sounds like you're in the same boat as me.

I tried a 4.0L swap in my 88 Bronco II Eddie Bauer, my first BII. Got everything hooked up but the wiring and couldn't figure out how to get it hooked up without swapping in a newer dash (which I didn't want to do). Poor truck has now sat so long I'm starting to think the cancer has got to the terminal point. I'd love to have it running and driving again, I've even considered trying to swap a 2.9L back into it.

I know how you feel about the sentimental value. It was hard for me to sell my first truck, even though I had pulled the motor for a donor on my newer one. Sometimes you have to make sacrifices.

Can you not figure out how to put it back together, or did you get it put back together and it just won't start?

If you just can't figure out how to put it back together I might just have to go drive 3 hours to come save your truck.

^ this is something that worries me about doing a 4.0 swap in my truck. Sounds like a huge wiring PITA without the Gen 2 dash.

And seriously, same here. I have a friend who lives in Lancaster (another Ranger owner, "Billab0ng86" on RPS and maybe here) that I see all the time. I'd be glad to help to (time permitting, I work full time)

Oh, it will be. That's one of the reasons I want a complete second dash, with harness. I want a spare one to cut into for my wire job.

When I get it all figured out and working, I WILL be sure to post instructions though.

^Thats a good idea...If all else fails, you still have a good one. Please post up those instructions. I know plenty on here have done it without (i'm sure) but go to instructions would be awesome.

Hell, Lancaster's not that far away. I may have to come up and help you if I have a day off...always good to work with someone who knows more, best way to learn something.

That it is. The rest of the mechanical stuff took a little head scratching at times but I was able to get most of it figured out. When it came to hooking up the fuel lines I ended up getting help from a local parts store, just had to order a couple fittings to make it work on the cheap.

But it's the wiring that is the nightmare without a second gen dash or dash wiring harness. I was going to make up some harness adapter plugs so I could just plug the two harnesses together, but it wasn't long before I realized that without decent wiring diagrams, you have to trace each individual wire....

Yes, the wiring diagrams in a Haynes or Chilton manual are pretty much absolutely worthless. To a former Electrical Engineering student, they look like they were done by a 2 yr old with a crayon or an EE dropout. If I could have got my hands on a proper set of wiring diagrams when I was working on it, I would probably be driving it now, lol.

I'd be willing to lend a hand with getting Deamers truck back together if I wasn't flat broke at the moment, not sure I got enough gas in the truck to make it over there an back right now. Been a bad year for work.

please do cuz im stuck we can order pizza or something i just wanta get my ranger back

I'll just have to find a few days that I'm off work. I betcha we can have that bad boy pieced back together in a day or two.

Give me a shout if you'd like an extra pair of hands with a retard attached to them.
