need help

well i really wish i woulda looked at that before spending 100 bucks on o2 sensors that i cant take back. i really dont know what else it could be though. they didnt help my cause. only for a short time then next time i turned on the truck it started stalling and bogging agian.

yea i scanned the codes on a scanner it said maf, tps, ect,and o2. i changed the old maf back on. and replaced the tps and ect. now it says "system checks ok" so i would guess o2 sensors? im really confuzed that i cant even drive it but it says its all good

Those sensors all run off the same reference voltage supply. If something pulls that voltage down all the sensors go down with it. Check the wire diagrams to verify this.

so are you saying it could be my alternator?

it seems once the motor is warmed up it runs good but if its cold it stalls and i cant even drive it.

I'd still say ECT. THIS thread relates to your problem.

Either bad ECT or not the correct signal voltage. Do all the checks in the thread before looking for something else.

If you suspect that the ECT may be out of range....

here's a pair of charts to refer to when testing the voltage thru the sensor.

http://www.supermotors.net/registry/media/723355

the ref voltage is approx 5v, when the engine is cold the return signal voltage will be approx 5v (back probe the harness connector), as the temp comes up the voltage return signal will drop.

If you want to test the resistance disconnect the harness so there's no voltage applied.

oky thanks, and ill have to get a voltage tester. but ive replaced the ect so what would it be a cut/frayed wire?

The ect will have two wires, the temp gauge sender will have one. Make sure you replaced the correct one.
