I am current;y rebuilding a transimission for an 88 Ranger, 5 speed manual, 4 wheel drive. On on of the shafts there is a pin that is used to keep a gear or bearing from slipping but I cant figure out how to get it out.

I have tried chisseling and using air tools but all it does is break and dent the bit because it is obviously hardened steel. Any suggestions please?

drift pin is the only way. you need HARD metal.... and drilling is not an option.

pics would help too

Thanks for the advise, but I ended up having a tranny shop finish it. One last question though...

What is the fluid capacity for the 88 Mazda Tranny (manual) in this truck?
