I have a 1999 Mazda B3000. It runs very rough at an idle, and if you give it fuel, and then let off it will die. It pulled the code P1131. It also said misfire cyl. # 1 and lean condition. So far, I have put in new plugs, wires, injectors on that bank, coil pack, O2 sensor, MAF sensor, fuel pump and screen, fuel filter, egr valve, pcv valve, egr position sensor, and new vacuum lines. None of this has solved the problem. When you pull the vacuum line off the egr control solenoid, the idle goes up, and the truck seems to smooth out. Do I need to replace the solenoid, or the canister purge solenoid. They are both mounted together on the body on the drivers side of the truck. The canister purge solenoid has an air hool up and says only 1psi. Can I try to blow that part out, and see if that fixes the problem? Can I try to clean both the egr control solenoid and the canister purge solenoid? I'm a little tired of putting new parts on the truck and nothing seeming to work. Also opened up both catalytic converters in case they were plugged up. I will replace them soon, as that also did not help the running condition of the truck. Please help, truck is driving me crazy!

have you checked compression?

is idle rough or does it go up and down?

IF the egr valve is not closing completely (leaking or being opened by a faulty control system) you will get a really screwed up idle. EGR valve is not used at idle or wot.

WHEN YOU REMOVE HOSE FROM EGR, Engine smooths out? Disconnect 2 wire connector at EGR vacumn solenoid. If you now have no vacuum to the EGR valve, replace the solenoid.

Egr

Disconnect 2 wire connected to the EGR solenoid. If you no longer have vacuum to EGR valve. Replace EGR solenoid.

haven't checked compression yet. truck doesn't want to stay running at idle. the idle is rough, take vacuum line off it goes up and seems to smooth out some. cautious about checking compression with the truck idling so badly. will it hurt the motor. truck has approximately 190,000 miles on it. please help if you can.

thought that i had taken the vacuum hose off the EGR control solenoid, but was actually taking it off the can purge vale. idle goes up and truck smooths out some what. does that mean this needs to be cleaned, or replaced. will it cause the problem i am having?

Can you take the cap off of the control and clean the egr bleed filter, spray some wd in the holes and see if it changes anything. The air bleed for the control will allow the egr to close and it pulls filtered air into the valve. Definately sound like a faulty control valve fix the obvious first. The egr opens and closes you can tell when you disconnect the vacuum to the egr valve the idle gets better.

already cleaned everything with the EGR control solenoid. Washed the filter and put it back on. made sure that air could move through the solenoid.

ok went out and started truck, pull vacuum off egr and nothing happened. then pull vacuum off the egr solenoid, nothing happened. then pulled vacuum off the can purge valve, and the idle went up, but truck did not smooth out. disconnected the wires from the egr solenoid and nothing happened. any ideas?

Do you still have the p0301?

should i take the cap off the can purge valve and clean that?

what 0301? never pulled that code. it pulled p1131. did change one upstream o2 sensor, but not both. should i also replace the other o2 sensor? truck is no longer recording any codes.
