Yea, I got the 94 part wrong.But I'm not sure about the T-Bird 5.0 ever having forged pistons. The Mark VII LSC motors did for sure. Not that it really matters at this point in time as nearly anything you find will be ready for a rebuild. Me personally, Looking for the HO with forged pistons is a huge waste of time, only if one fell into my hands would that be a plus.
I believe Wikipedia says 96 for the 5.0/Explorer.
I agree with the "ready for rebuild" statement, everything I am finding on CL is 175,000 to 200,000+ miles or it has been "recently rebuilt" by the owner (I won't trust that though).
I can get a crate for about $1200 but my hand cramps up everytime I get near a check book with a pen. I'm starting to look at 351's and 4.6's as they seem more plentiful. I don't know why but I thought this would be a lot easier.
