I have a 91 ranger 4x4 supercab 4.0 (no tilt steering) with a worn intermediate steering shaft. I want to replace it to stop the looase steering but I Need Help. The intermediate steering shaft OEM part# FOTZ_3B676_A. The Ford parts listing shows it as discontinued and I haven't found a replacement. Any suggestions??

I don't have a lead on a Ford part but I might have a possible solution. When I put the 351 into my 93 the rag joint in the original shaft would have rubbed on the exhaust so I got a shaft and some flex joints from Borgeson and made my own shaft. It took a little fabrication but it wasn't difficult.

What is actually worn? If it's just the rag joint, what size. I just saw the 2 5/8" size on Rock Auto, labeled "steering coupler". Their 23/4" size is out of stock. But that may give you more part numbers to use in order to find it elsewhere. Otherwise, as mentioned, it is possible to replace with regular u-joints. Borges is a very good brand. Thats what I used on my 93.
