need help hit water

i have a 86 ranger and today i hit a puddle of water and it splashed over my hood and my truck turned off. now when i turn the keep it only clicks once. all my lights work what do i need to do to get it to run again?

clean your battery connections.

check ground wires, there are several.

If your engine ingested water through the intake, you have hydrolocked your engine! Before trying to start it again, remove all the spark plugs and try cranking the engine. Also, open up the air filter box to see if the air filter is soaked.

the filter isnt even wet and i have a cold air intake and its dry as can be

filter wet or not, its easy enough to pull spark plugs, if you somehow get it to turn and you do have water in there your gonna have bent valves and prob worse.

on now i pulled the plugs and the click went away now nothnig happens when i turn the key. the throttle body was a little wet

Try to turn the engine over by hand (with a 1/2" socket wrench or breaker bar). If you find a REALLY tought spot, that's not good. If it turns ok, it could just be something electrical.

your symtoms sound the same.if it won't turn over with a breaker bar on the front of the crank you are f'd

nice snorkel job! i made a very similar one but i used my old factory grill intake pieces to fit into the cowl, there is not way rain water is drowing the intake and i didnt notice any power loss

Sure way to find out if it's locked or not, probably be best lying under the front of the truck
