I got a 1999 B4000 troy Lee....

I have a flooring company and use it for work. Problem is the rear springs are flat and really sag when loaded. I had to sell off my explorer (off road toy) so i plan to use the B4000 as a mild mudder/off road and work truck untli I find a new toy.

Anyway, I am gonna add a leaf (1.5 to 2") to get some load capicity back and lift the rear, also do the TTL in front. Maybe a body lift. I have a set of 33 off my exp that I want to run.

My question is about the shocks. Do I need the extended shocks with this set up. I was reading that some guys thought it helped. If so, what brand is best for my application? I dont care about ride quilty, Im more concerned about hauling and offroad. Which I know is an issue cuz you want flex for offroad and no flex for hauling. So, any advice is appreciated....

Shocks won't affect your flex offroad, they only dampen the movement is all.

I would get something gas-charged. KYBs are pretty stiff and should control a load decent. Stock-length shocks should be OK in the rear if it's only lifted 1-2".

FWIW, 4-door Explorer leafs would probably work better than sticking the AAL in your stock leafs.

As far as shock length, stock length rear shocks will work just fine. I know the shocks that came with my Tuff Country kit were the same length as the ones I pulled of (I laid them side by side) and that was for 3" of lift. The fronts are a different lenght however, so I won't list any info on that...check out the article on shock lengths in the magazine.

If you don't go the adjustable ride height air shock route, I'd suggest a pair of Bilstein 5125's in the stock travel length valve at or 255/70 or whatever is listed for stock application.

+2 on what Junkie says, I'd bastardize (haha) your current leaf pack by adding/weaving in some leafs from and explorer 4 door leaf pack. Add one or two or as many as you need to get the load capacity you need for your work loads.

I was thinking 4-Dr Ex leaf packs straight as they come whole (just flip the centerpins over the correct direction and bolt them in).
