I have a 2001 2.3l ford ranger with no key. I'm trying to save money on a locksmith and drill out the door locks so I can replace with ones bought online. Can anyone direct me to the right spot to drill to hit the springs in the cylinder?

Drilling is the hard way and wont get the job done. And you still have to remove the door card to uninstall the lock.

/\ Like they said, if you drill it you'll make a lot more work for yourself.

I haven't had any luck with taking it out with the cylinder still locked. Is there an easy way to take it off?

You should actually be able to see the tab for that clip on the door. Need to pop the rod off the end of the lock cylinder and then you pry that clip out and locked or unlocked, the cylinder will fall out

the clip looks like a flatish horse shoe. its kind of wavy so it applies pressure against the lock and doesn;t easily pop out. that is why you use the screw driver as a lever and pop it out.

Just like superj said. mine were stuck pretty solid. vice grips on the clip and a hammer to the vice grips eventually got them out. put a little grease on before re-installing for the next guy (probably still you lol)
