Does anyone know if I can upgrade my rear brakes on a 1989 Ford Ranger 4WD from 9 inch to 10 inch. I have the 10 inch backing plates and brake gear, but do not know if I will also need to change out the master cylinder or not. Also, does the rear end size matter? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i would switch to the 10" brake master cylinder to avoid proportioning issues.

it doesnt matter if the 10" brakes come from a 7.5 or 8.8 as long as they come from a ranger and not an explorer.
