Need a Clutch what is good?

I'd just stick with a stock replacement. My clutch has 157,000 miles on ( AND I'm the third owner of the truck!) with no issues.

put a new slave and flywheel while you have it apart is good insurance and maybe the input shaft seal on the tranny.

Well thats why I was looking at some of the kits because they come with the slave cylinder and apparently they don't like getting reused. That and its making a sound like the Throw out bearing is squeeking whish is attached to the slave cylinder.

As for the flywheel I highly doubt I would need a new one, its pretty thick and I will just resurface it unless there is some obvious defect or wear going on...

get a Luk, my first one had 185k on it, and it would have lasted longer but I lost the flywheel to a bad starter and figured while I was at it I might as well.

Definitely do the slave. As for the flywheel unless it is really badly scorn or glazed a simple resurface should be enough. I know at work (Ford dealer) we get all but the absolute worst one resurfaced. You'd be surprised what a good machine shop's flywheel machine can do.

Heck, I've seen some guys throw them on the brake lathe and re-touch them.

Alright well I will definately be looking into one of the Luk clutches... and I'll find a machine shop that can refinish my flywheel, or I'll hit it with a sander...

Machine shop, most engine places have a flywheel resurfacer. The sander won't be able to take it down absolutely perfectly flat and the flywheel machine also puts new grooves in it as well.

This is where I go:

I haven't seen a larger machine shop that didn't have a flywheel machine, if not ask your nearest dealer where they get theirs done, maybe they have a machine in house, which is a possibility in one of the larger dealers in Anchorage.

I know precision charger about $65 for a 12" IIRC so it is definitely worth the price.

I think we may have a precision auto in anchorage... but I am positive I can probably get one of the drivetrain specialists to do it in town. I have used both a sander and wire wheel to good effect on the flywheel/pressureplate before but maybe since I want maximum grip I should get it machined. Maybe I can get a deal on it since I work for a shop.
