On Saturday, July 10, I ordered $375 worth of parts from NAPA online. I immediately received an email with my order confirmation.

By Thursday, July 15, I had not received a shipping confirmation. I went online to check my order status, and it was still "pending." I called NAPA customer support (800 number) and the phone was answered with a rude sounding "hello." I thought I must have dialed the wrong number, so I said, "Is this Napa auto parts?" She said it was and asked how she could help me. She said their order system had been down and they were unable to ship orders. She could not give me an estimate of when it would be fixed.

On Friday, July 16, I went online to check my order, and it said "cancelled" with no explanation of why or anything. I called my local NAPA store and re-ordered everything with them.

Today, Friday, July 30 the store does not have all of my parts in and can't give me an estimate of when the missing items will be in.

So, because of NAPA, I have lost two weeks of time to fix this truck. And I don't know when I'll get my parts.

go to autozone, we do free next day shipping on most everything and if we dont have it, we get it directly from the vendor. autozone and napa are the only parts stores that havent screwed me over.

Az is good about getting parts to you on time, even better through AZ commerical. I've also had good experences with Advance Auto Parts online store. The prices you see on the website are equal to what I pay as a commerical customer. However, no one has come close to RockAuto.com. I'll plug their site all day long. They have all the rest beat, hands down.

I stopped using napa. after 3 yrs of doing business with the same manager, and parts men they would not give my business an ROA, not even for $200. I asked them one last time after 3 yrs, and stated look, if you can't give me an ROA after 3 yrs then i'm not gonna do business with you, they said my FICO score is too poor to give me an ROA, my FICO score is low, cause i'm damn near debt free dummy

That's a load of crap. Whenever they order parts, it shows them which warehouses have it in stock, and they order from a specific warehouse. They should easily be able to tell you when they expect it to arrive.
Here's how it works at the Napa I work at: There's only one warehouse that's local that we order from. We send a driver a couple times per day to pick up parts at the warehouse. So, if you order parts in the morning, you'll get it the same day. If you order late in the day, we have the parts overnighted and they'll be waiting for you when we open at 8 AM the next day. If the local warehouse doesn't have it, it's considered a special order. We order from the next closest warehouse, make you pre-pay, and charge you about $5 shipping (hey, UPS doesn't work for free). Usually it takes 2-4 days at the most to get parts from another warehouse, depending on how far away it is.

Ask them WHERE the parts are coming from. Sounds like they're pretty incompetent.

Generally I can get most things next day from Carquest, O'Reilly's or Napa here in town if they have it in the warehouse in Omaha. If another warehouse has it, it is 2 days out. Beyond that it is anyones guess but it usually something so weird you are happy someone still has it anyway.

I got a napa and carquest here. They never have shit and i live on an island in alaska so everything has to come by boat or by air. Imagine how gay my parts experiences are. You guys are spoiled as shit.

Who's spoiled? LOL Sounds like you live in paradise.

Anyway, Just talked to the NAPA folks again. He's reordering a couple of the parts that are missing, and says they will be in a few days. I'm not sure where the problem is- did they not order those parts originally, or was their truly a glitch in their system?

Never Had a problem with Autozone, I buy everything I can there. Plus they don't question me too much about having a 94 engine in a 90 truck.

My favorite parts store to deal with is Sanel's. They're a Parts Plus affiliate and local to New Hampshire.

Every time I got in there, I know that the guys & gals working the counter know their stuff. There's one guy in the Concord store (my local one), Gordon, who's been there for 30 years!!! He's semi-retired, just working Saturdays when all the shadetrees come in. The rest of them have been doing parts for between 5-20 years. They know their stuff.

Other than that, I've had good luck with Advance & AutoZone. But I prefer to do business with a local-based company.

I stop using napa after the first couple times I went there, I stood forever at the counter before someone helped me and they were not buesy, there shelves are always bare never have anything in exept stuff for famers and I could go to TSC and get better prices, and there more expinsive than anyone else advanced auto never has a clue what i'm looking for it took me 10 mins to exlpain what a hub wrench was and that I need one. Autozone has always been there for me the staff is educated and can usually answer questions. And has never taken more than 3 days to get in parts. plus they have the autozone rewards cards which have come in handy on more than one occation.

The only thing I won't buy from Autozone is fuel system parts. Anything with a rubber diaphram or gasket will melt in less then 6 months. I am never buying a fuel pump or power valve from them again.

If you think it's bad for you, imagine the guys in Hawaii. At least you can get stuff in from Seattle or Fairbanks in a day or three. The guys probably have to wait 2-3 weeks for the boat!

Yeah. Lucky dog!!! Worst thing you have worry about are the big brown teddy bears running around. :icon_rofl:

Yeah, IF they have what you are after - twice I've been there to find something and they don't carry what I wanted.
