What is this grille for? It looks like an 83-88 grille, but it doesn't have the headlight surround. Unless they've been cut off, I'm clueless on this one..

South American fl60 type truck/van

E3 prefix on the part number denotes it as an part designed/released in 83.

I dont think its south american, ford symbol is in wrong spot...

I think its a bastard 1st gen grille.

I was thinking it either had the ends cut off or maybe it was a very early, almost prototype, type of grille possibly. I messaged the seller asking for pictures of the ends of it.

It would certainly be good for someone doing some custom headlight mods, etc.

It's the inner section from a black/chrome 1st Gen grille. I still have one from my old STX hanging on the wall in my garage.

I've never seen a two piece 1st gen grille in my entire life. Odd..

I don't believe that's the right one. The only 2 piece grille i've seen was a chrome surround with a black insert. Any all black or all chrome grille I've seen was one piece. I'm sure the only reason they'd do 2 pieces is so they could finish them individually, then assemble it.

It does look like the center section "keys in" to the outer surround though. If you look closely enough at the little tabs that go from the outer to the inner section.

I have one of those two-piece ones somewhere.

It's probably in the pile of grilles in my garage loft.

Hey! I bet that piece fits my grill. Mine doesn't even have a place for the oval to go. When the Ebay one is turned over it does have the oval though.

That is definatly a ranger grille.

Only 2 vehicles (i know of) used the offset ford emblem, the 80s vic and the 80s ranger.

The vic grille has a slight peak to it.
