My Truck died last night in weird way

I have a 2005 FX4 Level 1 that died on me last night with no warning. Driving on the freeway and it seemed to all of a sudden be severely starved for fuel. Still had plenty of battery/spark and it starts but idles very rough for short periods before dying. Pumping the gas pedal evens out the idle but it won't rev above 2k and still dies after a few seconds. No check engine light. I'm wondering if it could be a sensor of some sort or if the fuel pump has (mostly) given up the ghost. Details of recent work:

120k, bought in Feb and did oil change, air and fuel filter, plugs and wires, new Optima yellow top. Just did my second oil change a few days ago. Wondering if there's a sensor in the 4.0L that might have gotten oil into it that could be a problem

Sounds exactly like mine after I wrecked and tripped the inertia switch. Did you hit a big pothole about that time? Can you hear the fuel pump run when you turn the key to run without trying to start?

First thing I would do is get a fuel pump tester gage on the rail and check my fuel pump pressure. Try revving it up and see if pressure drops. Your pump might be giving up the ghost.
