My, scratch that... Now my DAUGHTER'S 1987 Supercab 4x4

And we easily made it to our blind! As you can see, it's actually a 1967 Shasta travel trailer converted to a hunting blind. It's completely stock except the rear window has been replaced with polycarbonate with a hatch to be able to shoot out of. There's no roughing it in here. Even though the trailer is only 10' long, it's fully equipped with gas oven, gas stove, gas refrigerator/freezer and a gas furnace. And everything works! There's enough room in there for the both of us plus our assorted books, munchies, etc. It's really quite comfortable in there once the heat is on.

And here we are on our way back out at the first mud hole again. It really doesn't take too many trips through these holes to really turn them sloppy. But once again, Kate had no problem crawling right through it. Those 32x11.50s and limited slip rear end were more than up to the task of keeping traction.

And that was the first mud adventure for the truck since I finished building it. But it certainly won't be the last! It's been REALLY wet up here the last few weeks and I suspect the roads and trails around our camp are going to turn to soup by the time deer season rolls around. If we have time, I'm going to try to find something to challenge both the truck AND my daughter. But at least for now, you can see that pretty red paint christened with brown mud war paint.

Its cool to still see people doing stuff with their kids. I feel like that is far too infrequent to see that. Its also cool to see your daughter hunting and mudding, far too few girls willing to do that...

I'm glad that she likes trying different things and isn't afraid to get dirty while doing it. She's a senior in H.S., has had a 4.0 GPA for the last six years, she was just named as Honorable Mention for the H.S. Conference All-Star volleyball team, she volunteers time at the local animal shelter, plays three instruments in her H.S. band, made it to the state level competition while playing her flute, she's on her H.S. Student Council, she enjoys shooting a deer rifle and hunting, etc...

She's definitely a model student and daughter and I couldn't be more proud of her. Which is one of the reasons I was happy to build this truck for her. I put a lot of time and effort into it and she can appreciate what that means. She's hoping to win the vote for "Best Senior Vehicle" at the end of the school year and I'd say she has a pretty good chance of getting it. There are a few other nice vehicles, but none are customized to the level of hers.

Although, it's also a little amusing because people assume the truck isn't hers because it's a lifted, customized 4x4. They always think it must belong to a guy. So we sat down and I came up with the idea of making a rear window decal out of red lettering that reads:

No, it's not my boyfriend's truck

It's not on there yet, but she wants me to do it. Unfortunately, that means I will NEVER drive it again after that point.

I saw a sticker on a girls truck the other day that said "silly boys, trucks are for girls". Not that I agree with it, but that is the sentiment you are looking for haha

We're heading back out for deer season this Thursday evening. I'm hoping that we bag a buck opening day so that we have the next 3 days to relax and maybe find a few mud holes.

Well, no buck for us this year. We had a nice 6" spike in our bait pile for about 40 minutes, but we were looking for something a bit bigger, so we let him go. But we had a fun time in the blind and back at camp playing cards with the crew.

As I thought, everything was MUCH sloppier than when we'd been there for the fixup weekend, as you can see.
