am i the only one that speeds up to hit these things?
So what?
They effect property value.. the same reason I can't work on my project in my own drive way with out getting ticketed.. there's lady down the street in a wheel chair has to go the long way around the block to visit people on the other end of her block when it used to be a roll down the street..
Like I've said in other sights I have a investment in a local tire company and the front end damage has increased allot, good for business but still not right to punish people/communities rather than the particular offenders.. people need to be held accountable for their actions.. as you read for some they are launch pads
The effect on Emergency vehicles and those in side.. like Fire truck tankers and EMS... 500 gallons of water going over a speed hump is not fun at any speed but there are a few streets in my town with 8 in a row... I'm sorry but those guys have enough obstacles as it is.
and The profile of these things are not the same since they are laid by hand...some are smooth and some will knock your teeth out....
So why spend money installing a technologically poor device that presents an additional obstruction and danger to the community?
Oh well... I'm a Leader in Cub Scouts and I have nothing but respect for people protecting children... but this just isn't the answer or the lesson to teach our children..
We need to be responsible for our actions, and hold others responsible for theirs.

And you think that a speedbump would of stopped him..how? Obviously if he was going that fast in the first place, he wouldn't care about a bump.
Cat - I remembered when you originally posted that. I lived on a street with 4 road humps that they put in (along with 2 stop signs) for exactly preventing crap like that. In my opinion, if you're in that big a hurry, leave sooner and drive safe. What a retard - too bad it wasn't him clearing out the gene pool.
I am sure the first speed bump he would have hit would have put him out of commission at that outrageous speed!! There are speed bumps in another area and witnesses who saw him just before the accident say he was going over them slowly so when he got to the area without the speed bumps he took off like a rocket. And why did he do this? Maybe he thinks he is immortal??

Nope. I used to do it in my Omega. That's a unibody car at that. Never damaged the suspension though.
how so? loss of control and hitting something else and killing his passenger anyways?
so basically, if we put a speed bump every 1/8th of a mile EVERYWHERE, sh!t even put them on the highways, we will have no more issues with reckless driving. problem solved, no one dies, happy time right?
I have to agree with Zuki here...
