My ls 6.0/th400 swap

yea im running a 60eall u have to do is take care of them.Keep them cool and they will last forever and the fact that my truck weighs 2800lbs helps too.

also everywhere ive ever looked says solid motor mounts need a rubber tranny mount..if not what will flex if needed?

i wouldnt run a 700 if you built it, gave it to me, and put it in lol. They are junk. and an 80 wont fit

This 60e isnt going in stock..its got aftermarket clutches, vette servo and a very very large tranny cooler, actually prolly 2 of them in a series

1 sighs.....ok. 4l60 needs more pc support and programming and can be better then a 700 with the right tuning. a manual 700 with all the up parts is a equal monster power wise, just not tunable like an electric trans

2 6.0 wont fit either:thefinger: at the very least your telling the wrong guy an 80 wont fit. i know they do. and not necessarily with all the surgury you did already provided the engine was in the normal space.

was it worth cutting it up to move the engine back?

my tranny build is a beast sunshell, treated input and output shafts, HD2 shift kit and alto red clutches...the tune is spot on...and i know guys running 500+ through a 60e. all it needs is a good tune and to be kept cool...ive been dealing with LS powered trucks for 6 years i know what it takes to build a good tranny..i pulled most of my hard parts out of a tranny that held a 450hp motor that sprayed a 250 shot and the only reason he took it out was to go with a 80e..im not being rude just saying i know very well how junky these transmissions are but with my truck weighing 2800lbs im not worried about it since u see camaros running 10s on stock 60s

and yea i moved the motor back to clear my steering and my radiator

2800 is crazy. the suspension setup linked out back?

seems it will leave on the wheels with what you have.

has to be insane fun.

A stock AOD is just as trashy as a 4L60E, or worse, yet guys build them and run lots of power through them. I say build the 60 and be happy. Once built, I doubt you'll get enough traction to break it anyway :D

the aod and 700 are hydro/mechanical 4r70w and 4l60e.

the electric shift trannies are better if you are ok with the electronics. most are these days and it offers many fine adjustments the hydro control trannies can never offer.

i have built many many aod's. had to out of necessity. not afraid of them, but the electronic version has more to offer.

my offer up was purely because he started with the 400, which kind suggested different priorities to me, but i wrongly drew that conclusion because i did not ask for more data....problem with proceding with ones own mind..

the big reason i went with the 400 was price of parts..i could have built it to hold 1000 hp for the price it would take to make a 60 hold 400 in a truck but the price was right and when it broke the 400 i happen to know where a decent 60e was and i knew where some parts were..i like the 60 for the fact that when i need it to downshift the computer will do it.the 400 would never downshift...i say a caame out alright even if i break the tranny..i got the tranny, stall and a built tranny for parts for $350

stock suspension...going down the road if i step on it it bounces the frame off the bumpstops...not good for it but entertaining to say the least lol

it spins from 80 down lol very very scary with no power steering and a very loose steering box

let me rephrase lo...it would fit but when i put the truck together i didnt clearance things so i could work on it..just to get the 60 in there it took 3 hours..im not saying it wouldnt fit but i dont have the proper tools with me as i am 200 miles from home...lol

Finally...
